Surat (Gujarat) [India], March 02 : Leader of the ruling BJP in Billimora Nagarpalika, Harish Chiman Ode was brutally attacked by some unidentified persons carrying lethal weapons in the broad daylight at Gandevi cross-road on Wednesday.
A video of about five attackers assaulting the senior BJP leader in public went viral on social media platforms on Wednesday. Ode was intercepted on the Gandevi crossroads when he had gone for some personal work.
The goons carrying hockey sticks and sticks overpowered Ode and charged him with continous hitting with the weapons. The assault lasted for about five minutes on the busy Gandevi crossroad amid the presence of the public.
The goons fled away in the private car from the spot. The police has started investigation to know the whereabouts of the attackers.
Sources said the assault was the fallout of the personal rivalry between Ode and the attackers.
Ode, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the hospital.
