Man sentenced to death for rape and murder of the 11-year-old girl and her mother

Surat (Gujarat) [India], March 07: Two accused were conviced of the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl and her mother on Monday. The main accused was awarded capital punishment, while the co-accused has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court pronounced that accused Harshasahay Gurjar be hanged till death for the heinous crime he had committed and the co-accused Hariom Gurjar was awarded life imprisonment. The main accused, Harshasahay Gurjar raped the adolescent girl and killed her by stabbing with a pointed wooden object in his genitals and killing her mother in front of her eyes on April 6, 2018.

With the help of the co-accused, Gurjar dumped the bodies of the mother-daughter duo at separate locations to the confuse the investigating teams.

Public Prosecutor, PN Parmar, who appeared in the court on the behalf of the prosecution said, “The police have worked hard to gather evidence against the accused. Initially, the police did not knew that the bodies are of mother-daughter duo. This was later confirmed after a DNA test was performed”

According to Parmar, the body of the 11-year-old girl was found from the Sai Fakir Cricket group in Bhestan. A primary investigation suggested that the girl was sexually assaulted and raped. Meanwhile, six days later, the police found a body of a woman from Sachin-Magdalla highway. The woman was strangled to death. After checking the CCTV cameras, the police found a black-colored car from which the body of the woman was dumped on the highway.
