Odisha — Odisha is moving towards becoming the gateway and technology hub of East India. In the presence of Adani Ports (APSEZ) Managing Director Karan Adani and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the foundation stone of projects worth ₹33,081 crore was laid to make Odisha the industrial hub of East India. At the investment summit held on Wednesday, Adani announced investments in three multi-sectoral projects. These include three major projects such as a data center, a thermal power plant and a cement manufacturing plant.
To give Odisha a new identity in the digital sector, Adani Group will set up a data center in Bhubaneswar with an investment of ₹800 crore. It will put the region on the global map of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and cloud computing. Up to 200 highly skilled youth will get new employment opportunities in the advanced digital infrastructure.
Talking about another project, Adani Group will set up a thermal power plant near Cuttack with an investment of ₹30,181 crore to provide uninterrupted power to the state for industrial revolution. This huge power plant will provide direct employment to 7,000 families along with a new impetus to the state’s economy.
Adani Group is also investing heavily in Odisha in the cement manufacturing sector. The cement plant, built with an investment of ₹2,100 crore, will provide employment to approximately 2,500 people. This plant will provide a strong foundation for the construction of roads, schools and hospitals in the state of Odisha.
Speaking on the occasion, Karan Adani said in his motivational address, “Odisha is not just on the path of transformation, it has already set its own destination,” adding that the Adani Group has come here not just as a visitor but as a ‘builder’. This investment will prove to be a cornerstone in realizing Odisha’s dream of a $1.5 trillion economy.
Recalling Odisha’s glorious past, Karan Adani said, “The land that changed the heart of Emperor Ashoka and whose seafarers spread Indian culture across Asia, is the land that is going to write India’s future today.”
Other projects of the Adani Group such as the ₹84,000 crore coal-to-chemical plant in Sundgarh and other infrastructure works are giving Odisha a strong industrial identity on the world map.
