Surat | Gujarat — The Gujarat government has given a go-ahead for the six-lane high-speed corridor between Surat-Navsari at a cost of Rs 945 crore under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project Surat-Navsari Twin City. Following the presentation of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR. Patil and Choryasi MLA Sandeep Desai, the state government has already issued a tender in this regard. 

MLA Sandeep Desai told reporters at a felicitation program to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Surat APMC, “This year, after the monsoon, the 4-lane road will be converted into a 6-lane road using high-tech technology within 24 months.” 

Following a presentation made to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the project under the Surat Economic Region (SER) has been approved. Following this decision, motorists will be free from traffic jams on the busy road with the movement of 25,000 vehicles daily. 

The state government has taken this historic decision towards realizing the dream of Surat and Navsari twin cities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, the ‘High Speed ​​Corridor’ scheme, has been approved to ease the increasing traffic load on the Surat-Sachin-Navsari road. Under this project, a 14-kilometer road will be converted from 4-lane to 6-lane. For this, the state government has given administrative approval to allocate a fund of Rs 945.92 crore.

MLA Sandeep Desai had continuously followed up for this project. He made a precise presentation to the state Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil in this regard. About 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles pass through this main road connecting Surat and Navsari every day. 

Especially due to Sachin GIDC, Pandesara GIDC, Bhestan, industries in Un, Hojiwala Industrial, mega companies in Hada area of ​​Hazira, Hazira Port, the traffic of heavy goods vehicles is continuously increasing, due to which the problem of traffic jam has become a daily occurrence. Due to traffic during peak hours, people have to suffer a lot. Sometimes it takes 30 to 60 minutes to cover a distance of one to one and a half kilometers. The construction of a 6-lane high-speed corridor will provide a permanent solution to the traffic problem.

Choryasi MLA Sandeep Desai further said that this high-speed corridor is not limited to Surat-Navsari only, but it will change the face of connectivity of the entire South Gujarat. This road will directly provide a high-tech link to Surat for developing cities like Navsari and Bilimora and agricultural and commercial centers like Gandevi. It will also connect chemical and engineering hubs like Valsad and Vapi. This will increase the efficiency of industries, domestic and export-oriented industrial activities will increase on this route. People living near it will benefit greatly from employment.

The tenders for this project have been issued by the Roads and Buildings Department of the Government of Gujarat.

Tender process completed quickly, work will pick up speed after the monsoon The pace will pick up. After the tendering process and appointment of the agency, the road work will be started as soon as the monsoon is over. Considering the complexity of this project and the construction of the elevated corridor, a time frame of 24 months has been fixed for the completion of this work.

Land will be acquired in Lajpore, Sachin, Kapletha and Popda villages of Choryasi taluka.

The compensation process will be completed quickly by taking the residents and farmers around the road in these areas into confidence. After land acquisition, new opportunities will arise for the development of townships and commercial hubs in the areas around these villages as the width of the road increases. Utilities including hotels, restaurants, malls will start.

Features of Surat – Mumbai Twin City 6-lane High Speed ​​Corridor Project

The 14 km long Surat-Sachin-Navsari Road Under High Speed ​​Corridor Scheme from 4-lane to 6-lane project will be undertaken by Surat and Navsari Road and Building Departments.

The state government has sent an administrative sanction letter of Rs 945.82 crore. Rs 638.57 crore will be spent on the road and elevated corridor

Rs 277.71 crore will be spent on land acquisition, utilities and other facilities.

Elevated Corridor: A 1.9 km long grand elevated corridor will be constructed on the Suda Bypass Road.

Flyover and Bridge: A new flyover at Maroli Junction and a major bridge over the Mindhola River are planned. Apart from this, 8 small bridges will also be built.

Underpass: For easy movement of vehicles,

2 VUP (Vehicular Underpass) and 1 Light Vehicle Underpass will be built near Sachin-Pardi Alpha Hotel, Lajpore and Kapletha.

Lane Upgradation: The 14.3 km road connecting Sachin to Navsari will be converted into a high-tech 6-lane.

Maroli Flyover will be built on Maroli Junction.

Mindhola Major Bridge will be built over the Mindhola River.

A total of 8 minor bridges will be built in Surat and Navsari districts.

Under this project, road connectivity will be upgraded from Sachin in Surat to Bilimora.

Direct road connectivity will be provided to the PM Mitra Mega Textile Park being developed at Vansi Borsi village in Jalalpore taluka of Navsari.

Doordarshan Kendra DD Sachin – Near Pardi Kanade, near Alpha Hotel, Vikal underpass, 1 Lajpore and 1 Kafleta village elevated bridge will be built.

Flyover near Maroli, second bridge on Mindhola bridge, near Lajpore, total km, 14 km road, 2 km elevated bridge will be built.

The 6-lane high-speed corridor under the Surat Economic Region will bring these benefits.

To improve regional connectivity, this project will connect the major industrial cities of South Gujarat like Valsad, Vapi, Navsari and Surat with a state-of-the-art road system. This road will prove to be the backbone for the economic integration of the entire region.

The conversion of 4 lanes to 6 lanes will significantly reduce the heavy traffic jams between Surat and Navsari. The separation of levels for local vehicles and long-distance vehicles will make the traffic movement much smoother and faster.

Boost industrial transport: Important industrial hubs like Sachin GIDC and Hazira Port are directly connected to this road. The elevated corridor and the construction of six lanes from four lanes will allow the movement of freight trucks and containers without any hindrance, which will increase the efficiency of industries and exports.

Huge savings in time and fuel: Thousands of employees and traders commute between Navsari and Surat every day. The completion of this project will reduce travel time by approximately 30 to 60 minutes and will eliminate fuel wastage due to frequent ‘stop-and-go’ traffic.

Positive impact on environment: Vehicles standing in traffic jams emit more carbon. The constant and steady movement of vehicles will reduce air pollution and also control noise pollution, which will be a boon for the surrounding residential areas.

Real estate and urban development: This elevated corridor and the construction of six lanes from four lanes will create new development opportunities in the areas between Sachin and Navsari. There will be rapid development of townships, commercial complexes and warehousing facilities in the areas surrounding the road, which will increase the value of the land.
