Surat | Gujarat — The Surat-based Association for Harnessing Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ASHINE) of the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Instittue of Technology (SVNIT), Synchronous Drives and Inverters Pvt. Ltd. (SDI),are making an important contribution to making the country self-reliant. A team of 10 people, including 6 youths from Surat, has developed indigenous hardware and software for electronic bikes. Also, with the encouragement of the state and central governments, they are working on the world’s most efficient electric vehicle (EV) technology.

Darshan Pandit, founder of Synchronous Drives and Inverters Pvt. Ltd., says that in changing times, the demand for EVs is increasing and will increase in the coming times as well. We have to import 90 percent of the technology used in it from other countries. Through this startup, which was started as part of the country’s effort to reduce this dependence, we have created indigenous hardware and software used in e-vehicles.

Talking about the development of  the world’s most efficient technology, Pandit gave more details about this project and said, “We are making the fourth generation (4G) of semiconductor chips used in e-vehicles. Instead of the 1st generation currently used in e-vehicles, the 4th generation power electronics technology will allow the EV vehicle to run 10 to 15 km more on the installed battery. For this, under the guidance of MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) under the ‘India Semiconductor Mission’ of the Central Government, we have got the benefit of the DLI (Design Linked Incentive) scheme. In which we will also be able to manufacture indigenous semiconductor chips by getting software from various companies free of cost”

Pandit added, “W are making a fully AI-powered EV vehicle by combining it with the indigenous AI search engine telescope. The software and hardware developed by us, which is considered the brain and heart for EV vehicles, will be sufficient for the companies manufacturing e-vehicles in the country. By getting indigenous suppliers, the economic burden of imports will be reduced.”

Along with this, they will get sustainable vehicles that provide more mileage at lower maintenance costs. And Indian companies manufacturing EVs will be able to compete in the global market. We are moving forward with the goal of making the country self-reliant in the global arena by creating the best and most efficient indigenous EV technology, added Darshanbhai.

It is noteworthy that Synchronous Drives and Inverters Pvt. Ltd. is one of less than 100 startups in the country and only 3 from Gujarat that have received benefits under the ‘India Semiconductor Mission’. They have also developed the world’s fastest software for EV operating systems as well as ‘Rare Earth Free’ software for rare magnet-free motors. Which is very useful in building more efficient EV vehicles.

Synchronous Drives and Inverters Pvt. Ltd.’s research has given them the opportunity to exhibit at exhibitions including Startup Conclave, ChipIn Conclave and Super Computing India this year.
