Gandhinagar | Gujarat — The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in the state for the next 7 days, i.e. from September 4 to September 10. Extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted for the next 3 days, especially in Narmada, Bharuch and Tapi districts respectively  in South Gujarat.

Water is being released in phases from the night of September 3 to maintain the rule level in Sardar Sarovar Dam. About 3 lakh cusecs of water is being released through 15 gates of the dam and RBPH canal. In the last 24 hours, there has been a rise of 10 cm in the water level. 27 villages of Vadodara, Bharuch and Narmada districts have been alerted.

Meteorological Department scientist, Ramashray Yadav said that this rainy weather has become due to the monsoon trough. The intensity of rain will increase in Gujarat in the coming days. On Thursday, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Tapi, Dang, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Surat and Panchmahal.

According to the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), the rainfall has covered all areas in Gujarat this year.
