Ahmedabad | Gujarat ––In a horrifying late-night accident, two women – including a police constable deployed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security detail – lost their lives after a speeding dumper truck mowed them down near the 108 Emergency Centre at Hanspura-Narol Ring Road.
The deceased have been identified as Viralben Rabari, posted with the Gandhinagar Cyber Cell and attached to PM Modi’s security, and Hiralben Rajgor, a dedicated staffer at the 108 Emergency Centre.
According to police, the incident occurred when the two were near the Emergency Centre late Monday night. A dumper truck, allegedly driven recklessly, rammed into them, leaving both critically injured. Despite immediate efforts by colleagues and locals to rush them to hospital, doctors declared them brought dead.
“This is not just an accident, it is sheer negligence. Viralben was young, committed, and proud to serve in the Prime Minister’s security detail. To lose her like this is beyond words,” said a grieving colleague from the Gandhinagar Cyber Cell.
Residents in the Hanspura area expressed anger over the rising number of heavy vehicle accidents on the Ring Road at night. “Every day these dumpers race through the stretch without fear of law. Authorities wake up only after lives are lost. Who will take responsibility for these deaths?” questioned Rajesh Prajapati, a local shopkeeper.
Police said that a case has been registered at the G Division Traffic Police Station, and efforts are on to trace the vehicle and nab the absconding driver. “An FIR has been filed, and teams are working to track down the driver and verify the dumper’s ownership. Strict action will be taken,” said a senior traffic police officer.
