Surat | Gujarat  — In a vibrant tribute to the spirit of patriotism and unity, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), Surat Police Department, and Surat District Administration are all set to jointly organize the biggest-ever Tiranga Yatra in the history of the diamond city on August 10 at 6 PM. The grand march will start from Y Junction and culminate at the iconic Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, promising a spectacular display of national pride and cultural harmony.

The highlight of the yatra will be a 1.5-kilometer-long tricolor, symbolizing the unity and diversity of India. Over 50,000 citizens are expected to participate in the yatra, including students, industrial workers, artists, religious leaders, cyclists, and skaters. More than 1 lakh national flags will be distributed to attendees, turning the route into a sea of saffron, white, and green.

“This is not just a yatra, it’s an expression of our collective identity as proud Indians. From students to senior citizens, everyone is coming together to celebrate the ideals of our freedom fighters,” said Anupam Singh Gahlaut, Commissioner of Police, Surat.

To enhance the celebratory spirit, 12 cultural stages will be installed along the route, showcasing the folk traditions and vibrant cultures of various Indian states. Local and national bands, DJs, and artists will perform live, making the event a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

“This Tiranga Yatra will be a message of peace, unity, and respect for the diverse heritage of India. It will be the most colorful and inclusive celebration Surat has ever witnessed,” stated a senior official from SMC.

In an exemplary show of preparedness, the administration has made elaborate arrangements for public amenities. Water stations, medical teams, and portable toilets will be available throughout the route. Separate parking facilities have been arranged for participants coming from across the city.

Security will be tight with 8 police platoons, along with units from the paramilitary forces, stationed across the route. Rehearsals are being conducted to ensure that the event proceeds smoothly and without traffic disruptions.

Organizers emphasize that this year’s Tiranga yatra in Surat is grander than previous years, dedicated to the valor and sacrifice of freedom fighters. The event aims to foster a deeper sense of national pride ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day on August 15.
