Gandhinagar/Surat, Gujarat — The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) on Thursday declared the Class 10 board examination results held in February-March 2025. Marking a historic achievement, the state’s average result stood at 83.08%, the highest in GSEB’s history. This surpasses last year’s overall pass percentage of 82%.

A total of 7,46,892 students appeared for the SSC (Class 10) exams this year, of which 6,20,532 have successfully passed. Notably, Banaskantha district emerged as the top-performing district with 89.29%, while Kheda district recorded the lowest at 72.55%.

The diamond city of Surat and Surat district continued its strong academic performance with an impressive 86.20% pass rate. Of the students from Surat who appeared in the exam, 5,393 secured the elite A-1 grade, contributing to the state’s total of 28,055 A-1 scorers.

“This year’s result is truly remarkable. It shows that our education reforms, digital learning initiatives, and focus on student-centric policies are delivering results,” said a senior GSEB official during the result briefing.

One of the striking highlights was the performance based on language medium. Students from the English medium outshined others with a 92.58% success rate, followed by Gujarati medium at 81.79% and Hindi medium at 76.47%.

“It’s evident that students and parents alike are shifting towards English medium education. While promoting mother tongue remains essential, we must also align with global academic standards,” said educationist Dr. Neela Shah.

At the exam centre level, Kansa center of Mehsana and Bholad center of Bhavnagar posted the highest success rate at 99.11%, while Ambav center in Kheda recorded the lowest at 29.56%.

Another positive trend was observed in the number of schools with full pass rates. Compared to 1,389 schools last year, 1,574 schools this year achieved 100% results. However, 201 schools across the state recorded less than 30% results, and 45 schools had zero pass percentage, raising concerns over educational disparities.

Vadodara city district, with 36,758 students appearing, registered a 76.65% pass rate, one percent lower than last year. In Vadodara, 31 schools achieved 100% results, whereas 18 schools recorded less than 30%.

GSEB officials stated that students can access their results via the official board website and are encouraged to seek counseling in case of academic stress.

With this record-breaking performance, Gujarat continues to make strides in academic excellence while also highlighting areas needing targeted intervention. As one official concluded, “Our mission is not just higher percentages but holistic education for every child in Gujarat.”
