Surat : The Congress party in Gujarat is facing yet another major political setback as senior leader Faisal Patel, son of the late Congress stalwart Ahmed Patel, announced his resignation from the party. His departure adds to the growing crisis within Gujarat Congress, which has been struggling with a series of high-profile defections to the ruling BJP.

Faisal Patel made his exit official through a statement on social media platform X, expressing his disappointment and frustration with the party. In his post, he wrote:

“With great pain & anguish, I have decided to stop working for @INCIndia. It’s been a tough journey for many, many years.”

He further reflected on the legacy of his late father, Ahmed Patel, stating:“My late father Ahmed Patel gave his entire life working for the country, party & the #Gandhi family. I tried following in his footsteps but was denied every step of the way. I will continue to work for mankind in any way possible. The Congress party will remain my family as it has always been. I want to thank all the Congress leaders, party workers, and well-wishers who have supported me.”

Congress in Crisis as Leaders Defect to BJP

Faisal Patel’s departure is yet another blow to Congress, which has been witnessing a steady exodus of leaders, particularly since the Lok Sabha elections. His sister Mumtaz Patel had also previously expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, raising concerns about internal discontent.
