Gandhinagar : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced significant financial allocations aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and governance across the state. Under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana (SYMSVY), the state government has approved ₹710 crore for urban development projects across six newly formed municipal corporations—Anand, Nadiad, Morbi, Vapi, Navsari, and Gandhidham. Additionally, funds have been sanctioned for key infrastructure and beautification projects in Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and several municipalities including Patan, Vadnagar, Siddhpur, and Kadi.

As part of the initiative, ₹208 crore has been allocated specifically for the six new municipal corporations to develop administrative capacity, procure essential resources, and enhance service delivery. These funds will enable municipalities to efficiently implement public welfare projects and improve urban infrastructure.

Anand Municipal Corporation has been granted ₹20 crore, with ₹10 crore dedicated to city beautification, including street lighting, waste collection, and sanitation. Another ₹10 crore will enhance administrative capabilities through IT infrastructure development. A further ₹25 crore has been allocated for a new Town Hall, aimed at strengthening the city’s cultural and administrative identity. Similarly, Morbi Municipal Corporation has received ₹12.20 crore for beautification projects such as street light maintenance, garden upkeep, and drainage improvements, along with ₹55.80 crore for the conversion of the Machhu-2 Irrigation Scheme’s open canal into a concrete conduit.

For Nadiad Municipal Corporation, ₹1.89 crore has been sanctioned for a well-equipped city bus stand, along with ₹10 crore each for city beautification and administrative enhancements. Vapi, Navsari, and Gandhidham Municipal Corporations have also been allocated ₹10 crore each for IT and administrative advancements, with Vapi receiving an additional ₹11.50 crore for sanitation and beautification efforts.

In addition to the support for newly formed municipal corporations, significant funds have been directed toward larger cities. Surat Municipal Corporation has been sanctioned ₹147.57 crore for various infrastructure projects. Rajkot will receive ₹71 crore for unique development initiatives, including ₹24 crore for Pedak Road’s transformation into Gaurav Path and ₹13 crore for the Sponge City project, which aims to improve water conservation and urban landscaping. Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has been allocated ₹120 crore for a new flyover, sports complex, and multipurpose auditorium. Vadodara’s urban development projects include ₹22.50 crore for stray cattle control, while Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation will receive ₹44.30 crore under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment scheme.

Under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme, Vadodara has been granted ₹13.25 crore for CC roads and paver block installation in the West Zone. Siddhpur Municipality has been allocated ₹50.79 crore for railway underpasses, while ₹16.98 crore has been approved for a town hall in Patan. Vadnagar and Kadi municipalities will receive ₹1.27 crore and ₹39.65 lakh, respectively, for heritage restoration and urban development.

The Chief Minister emphasized that these allocations reflect a citizen-centric approach aimed at improving the ease of living for Gujarat’s urban population. Through this strategic funding, the government aims to enhance municipal efficiency, boost economic opportunities, and create modern, well-equipped cities across the state.
