Gujarat Government Employees Get 3% Hike in DA

Gandhinagar : In a significant relief to Gujarat’s state government employees and pensioners, the government has announced a 3% increase in dearness allowance (DA), effective from July 1, 2024. This hike aligns with the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations, raising the DA from 50% to 53% of basic pay. The decision benefits approximately 4.45 lakh employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners across state and panchayat services.

Implementation and Payment Schedule

The enhanced DA will be retrospectively applied from July 1, 2024. Employees and pensioners will receive the accumulated DA arrears for the months of July to November 2024 along with their January 2025 salary. Payments will be made in full rupee amounts, with amounts below 50 paise disregarded, as per government guidelines.

Beneficiaries of the DA Hike

The new DA order applies to the State government employees, Panchayat employees under the state government’s provident fund schemes, teaching and non-teaching staff of aided secondary and higher secondary schools, staff in non-government schools and grant-in-aid institutions whose pay has been revised under the Seventh Pay Commission with state approval, primary school teachers and panchayat staff on deputation or transfer, employees of work-related establishments approved for salary revision under the same pay commission guidelines.

Additionally, All India Service (AIS) officers in Gujarat will benefit from this decision.

For panchayat employees and teachers in aided secondary schools, the expenditure for the DA hike will be regulated as per the prescribed orders. The government clarified that the reimbursement of DA-related expenditures will not exceed the proportion admissible to equivalent state government employees.
