Anand : Amul, the renowned Indian dairy brand managed by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), is embroiled in controversy following the dismissal of over 100 employees from the Kheda District Milk Producers Union. On Wednesday, the terminated employees staged a protest outside the Amul Dairy office in Anand, Gujarat, demanding their immediate reinstatement.

The agitating employees, supported by the Karni Sena and prominent former Amul Dairy officials, including Rajendrasinh Parmar, Kesrisinh Solanki, and Natwarsinh Mahida, submitted a petition to the management. They demanded that all 105 dismissed employees be reinstated within 24 hours, threatening to escalate their protests if their demands are not met.

Employees Protest Long-Standing Terminations

The employees, who had served the organization for 5 to 8 years, were terminated four months ago. Many have questioned the rationale behind the mass termination, citing the lack of clarity from the management. The protesters argued that the decision has left loyal workers in a state of financial and emotional distress.

Former vice chairman and director of Amul Dairy, Rajendrasinh Parmar, addressed the gathering, stating, “These employees have dedicated years to Amul Dairy and deserve fairness. We are committed to supporting their cause.”

Security Concerns Prompt Police Presence

Amul Dairy management, citing security concerns, called the police to prevent any untoward incidents during the demonstration. While the protest remained peaceful, tensions ran high as employees vowed to continue their agitation until justice is served.

Letter of Appeal Submitted to Amul MD

The protesters submitted an appeal letter to Amul Dairy Managing Director Amit Vyas, urging the reinstatement of the terminated employees. “We hope the management understands the gravity of the situation and takes corrective action,” said Kesrisinh Solanki.

Threat of Intensified Agitation

If the management fails to respond within 24 hours, the protesters warned of escalating their demonstrations. The potential for prolonged agitation could tarnish Amul Dairy’s reputation, impacting its public perception as a cooperative committed to fairness and welfare.

Amul Dairy, a symbol of India’s white revolution, is now under scrutiny for its handling of employee welfare. The developments in the coming days will likely determine the course of action for both the employees and the organization.
