PM Modi Launches Rs.4,800 Cr worth Projects in Gujarat

Amreli : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of development projects worth over ₹4,800 crore during his visit to Amreli district. These projects span across multiple sectors including water supply, road infrastructure, and tourism, covering various districts like Amreli, Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kutch, and Botad.

The Prime Minister’s focus was on improving water infrastructure, road connectivity, and boosting local economies through new and ongoing projects. His visit marks a significant boost to development initiatives in the region, particularly in rural areas that will benefit from better water management and transportation facilities.

Water Supply Projects Worth ₹705 Crore

One of the highlights of the event was the inauguration of various water supply projects valued at ₹705 crore. This included both new and completed projects that aim to enhance water availability in multiple districts. Among these initiatives was the inauguration of the Bharatmata Sarovar, a reservoir constructed on the Gagadio River in Amreli at a cost of ₹35 crore. The sarovar, developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Gujarat Government and the Dholakia Foundation, has been designed to improve groundwater recharge and support irrigation for nearby villages.

The Prime Minister also launched 1,000 projects related to pit, bore, and well recharge, along with 590 initiatives worth ₹20 crore under the Water Resource Department. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the Pasavi Group Augmentation Water Supply Scheme Phase 2 in Bhavnagar district. The completion of these water projects is expected to bring significant relief to areas facing water scarcity, providing indirect benefits to around 6.7 million people across Botad, Amreli, Junagadh, Rajkot, and Porbandar districts.

One of the notable projects is the Navda to Chavand bulk pipeline for Botad district, which will ensure an additional 28 crore liters of water for 1,298 villages and 36 towns, greatly improving access to clean water for residents. Similarly, water schemes in Bhavnagar will benefit 95 villages, impacting around 275,000 people in Mahuva, Talaja, and Palitana talukas.

Road Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹2,800 Crore

Another major announcement was the launch of road infrastructure projects by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) worth over ₹2,800 crore. The Prime Minister inaugurated four major projects costing ₹2,185 crore and laid the foundation for another project worth ₹626 crore.

These projects include the four-laning of the Dhrol-Bhadra-Patiya sections of NH 151A at a cost of ₹768 crore and the Dwarka-Khambhaliya-Devariya sections of NH 151A for ₹1,025 crore. The improved road connectivity aims to enhance trade routes and facilitate smoother travel, contributing to the economic growth of these regions. The new project, for which the foundation stone was laid, involves the construction of a four-lane highway from Dhrol Bypass in Jamnagar to Amran in Morbi district, estimated at ₹626 crore.

Railway and Tourism Initiatives

In addition to the water and road projects, PM Modi also dedicated the Bhuj-Naliya gauge conversion project to the nation. Completed at a cost of ₹1,094 crore, this railway project includes significant infrastructure such as 24 major and 254 minor bridges, along with multiple overbridges and underbridges. The improved rail connectivity is set to boost socio-economic activities in the Kutch district, providing better transport options for local businesses and residents.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for tourism-related projects worth ₹200 crore, with a focus on eco-tourism. A notable part of this initiative is the sustainable development at the Karli Recharge Reservoir in Mokarsagar, Porbandar district, which aims to attract visitors while promoting environmental conservation.
