Ahmedabad : Investigations into the multi-crore GST scam involving The Hindu journalisdt Mahesh Langa has taken a surprising turn with the Gandhinagar police probing the involvement of senior officials of the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in connection with the unauthorized removal of official documents from the GMB office.

Initial details reveal that crucial documents were regularly moved out of the GMB office premises, raising concerns over a potential criminal offence involving theft and fraud. The case, registered at the Gandhinagar Sector 7 Police Station, is being handled with utmost secrecy.

The investigation has put journalist Mahesh Langa under the spotlight, with indications that his difficulties may escalate in the coming days. Sources suggest that the documents in question might have been linked to information Langa had access to, prompting speculation about a possible connection. The case has garnered attention within the media circles in Gujarat, with many anticipating further developments that could lead to the questioning of influential figures.

Authorities are exploring several aspects of the case, primarily focusing on how the documents managed to slip out of the highly secure GMB office. Investigators are also looking into who facilitated the movement of these documents and how they eventually made their way beyond Gujarat. The probe has already led to questioning some GMB employees to ascertain their involvement, if any, in the unauthorized transfer of documents.

The emerging details have sparked discussions among journalists and media professionals in Gujarat, with many believing that the case may require a more extensive investigation. There is speculation that high-profile individuals could be summoned for questioning, as investigators delve deeper into understanding the extent of the breach.

While Gandhinagar police remain tight-lipped about the progress of the case, the circumstances suggest a serious violation of security protocols at the GMB office. The outcome of this investigation could have significant implications, especially if evidence points to a broader network involved in the unauthorized handling of official documents.
