Mehsana : A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at a construction site of Steel Inox Stainless Private Limited, located on the outskirts of Jasalpur village in Kadi Taluka, Mehsana district, where four construction workers lost their lives due to a landslide. Rescue operations were still underway as three to four more workers were feared to be trapped under the debris. However, there were little chances of the rescue teams fishing out remaining victims alive.
The landslide took place while laborers were engaged in constructing a wall at the steel company premises. Without warning, a section of the soil gave way, burying several workers under the rubble. Rescue teams swiftly responded to the emergency, managing to recover the bodies of four workers, while efforts continue to locate and rescue the others who remain unaccounted for.
Authorities dispatched multiple ambulances and police personnel to the scene, alongside rescue teams utilizing JCB machines to clear the debris in search of survivors. According to sources, the sudden landslide caught the workers off guard, leading to the fatal accident.
Mehsana District Police Chief Tarun Dugal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Milap Patel, and Kadi Provincial Officer were among the senior officials who rushed to the site to oversee rescue efforts. Additionally, a team from the Mehsana Fire Brigade has joined the rescue operation, contributing manpower and equipment to aid in the evacuation.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at construction sites, as authorities work diligently to rescue the remaining workers and provide assistance to the affected families. The cause of the landslide remains under investigation, and further details are awaited as officials examine the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
Efforts are being made to ensure that those trapped are safely rescued, with the priority now focused on clearing the debris and assessing the situation. Local authorities are expected to issue a statement on the incident once the rescue operation concludes.
