Student Dies as Slab Collapses in Surat

The Surat police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse and to hold those responsible accountable.

Surat : In a tragic incident near Zanda Chowk, Mangrol, Surat, a slab from a dilapidated fourth-floor building collapsed on students walking home from school. One student died at the scene, while two others sustained serious head injuries and are receiving treatment.

Police rushed to the scene and began investigating the cause of the collapse. “The building was in poor condition, and we are investigating to ensure accountability,” stated a police official.

This resulted in the immediate death of one of the students at the scene. Two others sustained severe head injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

This incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about the safety of old and poorly maintained buildings.

Earlier in July, a six storeyed building collapsed in Surat and 7 dead bodies were recovered from the site and one woman was rescued after the search operation which continued all night. 

An official of the Fire Department had said that many labourers, were working night shifts and were sleeping in their rooms when the building collapsed.
