AHMEDABAD,GUJARAT : Akasa Airlines flight QP 1719 from Delhi to Mumbai was forced to make an emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad after receiving a bomb threat on Monday. This incident marks the third false threat received by airlines in the last two days, with a similar threat involving an Indigo Airlines flight from Varanasi to Delhi on Sunday. The perpetrator of that threat was apprehended by the police, but the recurring nature of these threats has heightened the system’s alertness.

The Akasa Airlines flight was scheduled to depart from Delhi at 8:40 am but was delayed by nine minutes, taking off at 8:49 am. The flight was expected to land at Mumbai airport at 10:45 am. However, at 10:13 am, the aircraft was diverted to Ahmedabad due to the bomb threat. The captain followed the full emergency landing procedure before safely landing the plane.

A spokesperson for Akasa Airlines confirmed the receipt of a security alert shortly after the flight took off from Delhi. “A security alert was received on the flight after take-off from Delhi to Mumbai. Following this, the flight made a safe landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 am. The investigation is still ongoing,” the spokesperson stated.

The flight was carrying 186 passengers, including a newborn baby, and six crew members. Upon receiving the alert, the flight circled in the skies above Ahmedabad before receiving clearance to land. After landing, all passengers were safely disembarked, and the plane underwent a thorough inspection by Akasa Airlines staff and the bomb squad.

No bomb was found on the aircraft during the inspection. Following the completion of the security checks and the necessary procedures, the flight was cleared to continue its journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.

This incident, coming so soon after the previous day’s threat, has raised concerns and prompted heightened security measures across airlines and airports. The authorities are on high alert to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any potential threats from escalating.
