VADODARA, GUJARAT : In anticipation of the final results for the Lok Sabha and Waghodia assembly seat by-elections, Vadodara is gearing up with stringent security measures. A total of 750 police personnel, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), will be on high alert to ensure a smooth and secure process on June 4.

Vadodara Joint Police Commissioner Manoj Ninama announced that the results will be counted at the Polytechnic College of Vadodara. To safeguard the process, a three-layer security system will be implemented. Police forces will be deployed in three strategic layers: inside the building where the counting will occur, around the building’s perimeter, and within the polytechnic compound.

In addition to the layered security, Ninama detailed extensive traffic and parking arrangements. A total of 290 personnel from the Traffic Regulation Board (TRB) and the traffic branch will manage traffic flow and parking. Special parking zones have been designated at four locations to accommodate different groups involved in the event. Separate parking areas are allocated for candidates and their agents, who will enter through Gate No. 2, while officials and officers involved in the election process will enter through Gate No. 1.

“Vehicular movement will be halted within a 200-meter radius of the counting center to ensure security and manage congestion. We have issued a notification to inform the public about these arrangements,” said Ninama. He also emphasized that, in line with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, mobile phones are prohibited at the counting center. “We request everyone to comply with this rule to maintain the integrity of the process.”

The three-layer security system includes paramilitary forces guarding the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the strong room, supported by the State Reserve Police and local police on the outer perimeters. This setup, currently in place, will continue through the counting process.

The police will be on duty from early morning at 4 a.m., ensuring that all arrangements are secure and operational before the counting begins. Gate No. 1 will initially be used for police personnel and officials, and then closed off to control access.

Parking for the public, including supporters and activists, has been organized at the university ground opposite the main gate of the MS University. These meticulous arrangements aim to avoid chaos and ensure an orderly environment on the crucial day.

Joint Police Commissioner Ninama urged the public to cooperate with the security measures and follow the directives to ensure a peaceful and smooth counting process. The comprehensive plan reflects the authorities’ commitment to maintaining law and order during this critical period.
