BHAVNAGAR, GUJARAT:  As the scorching summer sun bears down with increasing intensity, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation has taken proactive steps to safeguard the health of its citizens. With the onset of the summer season and rising temperatures, concerns about heat-related illnesses have prompted the municipality to implement preventive measures.

In anticipation of the sweltering conditions ahead, the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation has installed drinking water systems equipped with Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) at various strategic locations across the city. Recognizing the heightened risk of dehydration and heatstroke during heatwaves, these installations aim to provide immediate relief and hydration to residents.

The Meteorological Department of the Gujarat Government has issued a heatwave warning for the upcoming days, indicating soaring temperatures across the state. Bhavnagar city, in particular, is expected to experience exceptionally high temperatures during this period. In response, the Municipal Corporation has prioritized the well-being of its citizens by establishing ORS-equipped drinking water facilities in 10 to 12 key locations throughout the city.

ORS, a crucial intervention in combating dehydration, replenishes lost fluids and electrolytes, thereby preventing complications associated with excessive heat exposure. By incorporating ORS into the drinking water systems, the Municipal Corporation aims to mitigate the risk of heat-related illnesses and promote public health and safety.

The initiative underscores the municipality’s commitment to proactive health management and community welfare. Citizens are encouraged to utilize these facilities and stay hydrated, especially during peak daytime hours when the sun’s intensity is at its highest.

In addition to providing access to ORS-infused drinking water, the Municipal Corporation emphasizes the importance of taking preventive measures to avoid heat-related ailments. Citizens are advised to stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day, wear lightweight and breathable clothing, and stay hydrated by drinking fluids regularly.
