Seven Injured in Stray Dog Attacks in Vadodara

VADODARA, GUJARAT : Stray dog attacks have become a disturbingly common occurrence across Gujarat, with seven people being injured in separate incidents on a single day. This alarming trend has reignited concerns about responsible animal management and public safety.

The most concerning incident involved a one-year-old girl, Priyanka Alpeshbhai Yadav, who was mauled by stray dogs near Ramji Mandir in Dholi Paliya, Varnama village, Vadodara. She is currently undergoing treatment at Sayaji Hospital alongside six other victims from Vadodara city.

In Vadodara, seven individuals, including a one-year-old girl, were rushed to Sayaji Hospital after being attacked by stray dogs in separate incidents. The victims include residents of a housing society in Gotri, identified as Meenaben (24), Niraliben (6), Vaishaliben (7), and Varshaben (12). All are receiving medical attention for their injuries.

These incidents highlight the growing problem of stray dog management in Gujarat. The uncontrolled canine population poses a significant threat to public safety, particularly for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.

A doctor treating the victims at Sayaji Hospital, expressed concern about the rise in dog bite cases. “We’re witnessing an increasing number of dog bite injuries, and it’s crucial to address the root causes of this issue,” he said.

Experts have emphasized the need for a multi-pronged approach to tackle the stray dog menace. This includes implementing effective Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Rabies Vaccination (ABR) programs to manage the population and prevent the spread of disease. Additionally, promoting responsible pet ownership and educating the public on how to interact with stray dogs safely are crucial steps.

The Gujarat government and local authorities must take immediate action to implement a comprehensive stray dog management plan. The safety and well-being of the citizens should be the top priority.
