Ahmedabad : The Gujarat Congress is now facing a substantial political turmoil as a number of prominent leaders, such as former MLA Chirag Kalariya, are defecting to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The significant exodus, taking place before to the Lok Sabha elections, deals a serious setback to the Congress party’s dominance in the state. Kalariya and other recent additions formally joined the saffron party during a ceremony conducted at the State BJP headquarters Kamalam on Monday.

The flight gathered pace with the departure of senior Congress leader CJ Chavda, causing significant repercussions inside the party. Chirag Kalariya, the ex-Congress MLA for the Jamjodhpur assembly seat, publicly declared his loyalty to the governing BJP, which has the potential to cause a significant reconfiguration of political dynamics in Gujarat.

CR Paatil, the state president of the BJP, cordially greeted the new members, highlighting the influential leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a significant role in their choice. Paatil emphasised the notions of public welfare and serving the people as the primary motivations for this political change.

Paatil highlighted India’s exceptional progress under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech. He mentioned the admiration of foreigners and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who, after visiting India, recognise the country’s capacity to rival industrialised countries. Paatil praised the rapid advancement made in the span of ten years, crediting this accomplishment entirely to Narendra Modi and the BJP.

The BJP leader affirmed that the party is unmatched worldwide in delivering on its electoral pledges and election manifestos, highlighting that these commitments were made with sincere intent rather than only for the sake of gaining votes.

Balkrishna Patel, the former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Dabhoi, often referred to as Babu Dholar, was formally included as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Patel, who previously ran as a candidate for the Congress party in the 2022 assembly election but was unsuccessful, has now rejoined the BJP after a short period of time with the opposition party.

Kuldipsinh, the Director of Vadodara Dairy and a candidate from the Congress party in the assembly election, made a significant transition to the BJP, along with almost 1,000 of his followers. Balwantsinh Gadhvi, the leader of the Congress party in the Ahmedabad district, and Jashwant Yogi, the previous leader of the Nomadic Denotified Declassified cell of the Gujarat Congress, have both switched their allegiance to the BJP, thus increasing the party’s power and influence.

The BJP’s growth was further enhanced by the appointment of Ghanshyam Gadhvi, the head of the State Congress’s Other Backward Class (OBC) department, and Karansinh Tomar, the chairman of the State Congress’s Other Languages Cell. On Monday, the State BJP headquarters had a significant gathering of Congress leaders, members, and followers at this crucial event.

The significant exodus of prominent politicians from the Congress to the BJP suggests a profound transformation in the political landscape of Gujarat. With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the BJP is strengthening its position, while the Congress is confronted with the difficult task of restructuring its members and devising strategies for the next electoral contest.
