Ahmedabad Firm Wins Rs 333 Cr Terminal Contract for Dholera Greenfield Airport

Ahmedabad : The Dholera International Airport, a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a key cog in Gujarat’s development engine, has taken a major leap forward. The Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL) has awarded the construction of the airport’s integrated terminal building and ATC tower to a leading Ahmedabad-based construction firm, in a deal worth Rs 333 crore.

“This is a landmark moment for Dholera,” declared an elated Mr. Rajiv Gupta, Managing Director of DIACL. “The terminal building and ATC tower are the heart of any airport, and awarding this contract signifies our unwavering commitment to making Dholera a reality.”

The Dholera Greenfield Airport, envisioned as a greenfield marvel, has been prioritized by both the Gujarat and Central governments. In June 2022, the Union Cabinet approved the project’s Phase I development, estimated to cost Rs 1,305 crore and slated for completion within four years.

The first phase of the project will see the construction of a new integrated passenger terminal building, ATC tower and technical block, a cargo complex, car parking, and associated infrastructure. The project deadline is set for one-and-a-half years, with the aim of expediting the airport’s operationalization.

“This is a fast-paced project, and we are confident of delivering it within the stipulated timeframe,” said a spokesperson for the winning construction firm. “We are committed to using cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to create a world-class airport that will serve Dholera for generations to come.”

Situated 80 km away from the existing Ahmedabad airport, Dholera International Airport is strategically positioned to cater to the growing demand for air travel in the region. It is expected to become a major hub for both passenger and cargo traffic, boosting tourism, trade, and economic activity in Gujarat.
