GJEPC and BDB Make History by Hoisting the Tiranga on Himalayas at LOC

Surat : The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) have made history by becoming the first trade organizations in India to hoist the Indian National Flag at the Line of Control (LOC) in the breathtaking Himalayan region of Kupwara, Kashmir.

This monumental feat was made possible thanks to the unwavering dedication of the Rotary Club of Midtown and the Giant Group Chowpaty, two non-governmental organizations that have been tirelessly serving the border villages and areas of Kashmir. Their vision of spreading a message of unity and national pride led to a unique proposal – the hoisting of two massive Tiranga on two distinct mountain peaks in the Kupwara district, situated between Kupwara and Machal villages.

These Tirangas were no ordinary flags; they soared to a majestic 130 feet in height. Their colossal size ensured that they were visible from all sides and could be seen from faraway places, making them a beacon of hope and patriotism for the entire region.

The honor of hoisting these gigantic Tirangas was undertaken by a distinguished team from GJEPC and BDB, featuring influential figures from the gems and jewelry industry. The team included Anoop Mehta, the President of BDB, and Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, who were at the forefront of this historic endeavor. Other key members included Mehul Shah, Vice-President of BDB, and Kirit Bhansali, Vice-Chairman of GJEPC. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of GJEPC, Ajesh Mehta from GEPC, and Ashok Gajera also played crucial roles in this remarkable event.

Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB, expressed his gratitude towards the NGOs behind this initiative. He stated, “The NGOs, Rotary Club of Midtown and the Giant Group Chowpaty, have been doing extraordinary work in the border villages and areas in Kashmir for education, health, sanitation etc. Both the NGOs proposed the names of GJEPC and BDB for hoisting the National Flag at the LOC in Kashmir to the Indian Army. The flags are huge and visible from faraway distances in Kupwara. We are delighted and honored to have hoisted the National Flags on the border.”

He went on to emphasize the significance of this achievement, saying, “We are the first trade organizations to hoist the National Flags at the LOC.”

“This historic event not only showcases the immense pride and dedication of the GJEPC and BDB but also serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of patriotism that unites people across the nation, even in the most challenging and remote regions” said Vipul Shah, chairman of GJEPC.

“The Tirangas that now proudly flutter on the Himalayan peaks at the LOC are a symbol of hope and unity, a testament to the unwavering support for those who guard India’s borders” added Shah.
