Surat : The Cyber Cell of Surat City Police has successfully detected approximately 90% of the cybercrime complaints filed in the city. Moreover, they have managed to refund around Rs 10 crore to the victims of cybercrimes, providing much-needed relief to affected individuals and businesses.

To combat the rising threat of cybercrimes and raise awareness about online safety, the Cybercrime department of Surat police has been proactively engaging with the community. They have been conducting street plays to educate individuals, traders, women, and businesspeople about the various forms of cybercrimes and offer tips on how to prevent falling victim to such crimes.

Recently, the Cybercrime department organized its 50th street play, which took place at the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and targeted the business community. The street play focused on illustrating how cybercriminals execute their schemes, trap unsuspecting individuals, including young women, and compromise their lives. It also emphasized strategies that people can employ to protect themselves from falling prey to cybercriminals.

The audience, comprised of traders and industrialists, expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the actors and the Cyber Crime Cell of Surat City Police. The engaging and informative street plays have become an effective tool in spreading awareness about cybercrimes and enhancing digital literacy.

Yuvrajsinh Gohil, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime Cell), offered valuable guidance to the businessmen, industrialists, and citizens on how to safeguard themselves against cybercrimes. ACP Gohil shared that, under the guidance of Surat City Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar, the ‘Cyber Sanjeevani’ initiative was launched to promote online safety and digital wellness. This initiative is in collaboration with the ‘Cyber Suraksha Setu’ program.

‘Cyber Sanjeevani’ aims to increase awareness among urban residents through videos and street dramas. As part of this initiative, the police have produced eight videos, which cover six common modus operandi used by cybercriminals to commit cybercrimes. These educational resources provide practical insights and strategies to protect oneself and one’s assets in the digital realm.
