Gujarat CM inaugurates first comprehensive state-of-the-art transplant ICU at Marengo CIMS Hospital

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel inaugurated the state’s first comprehensive state-of-the-art transplant ICU at Marengo CMS Hospital on Monday. Manoj Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Development, also attended the event.

Gujarat’s first private and most comprehensive state-of-the-art transplant intensive care unit (ICU) has been established to meet the needs of the state’s transplant programmes in heart, lung, liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplant surgeries. Marengo CIMS Hospital has emerged as the regional Centre of Excellence for organ transplants, boasting the highest levels of clinical excellence and medical expertise. The hospital is also the only private hospital in Gujarat to provide five organ transplant surgeries under one roof.

There are 15 ICU beds in the transplant ICUs. Individual positive pressure ICU units with separate AHA and hepa filters are available to improve patient safety and maintain the highest levels of hygiene for infection control. These modular ICUs have individual spacious cabins, are well ventilated, and have a lot of natural light, all of which contribute to a positive healing ambience and environment. The ICUs are also outfitted with hemodynamic monitoring equipment to monitor all parameters with each heartbeat. It also has a complete in-house facility for heart, liver, and kidney support.

This world-class facility also has advanced systems such as an artificial heart, LVAD, ECMO, CRRT, TEG, and Nitric Oxide, among others. Patients are also given on-bed physiotherapy services.
