17-year-old girl gangraped in Surat district 

On late Tuesday night, three rapists gang-raped a 17-year-old girl in Mota Borsaran hamlet near Kosamba in Surat district. The victim was sitting with a friend in the agricultural field when the incident occurred between 10:45 and 11:15 p.m. Three unidentified Hindi-speaking suspects approached the two seated on the farm. The assailants assaulted the youngster and forced him to flee the scene. They (accused) stole the girl's and boy's cell phones.

SuratWhile the event of gang rape in Bhayali, Vadodara, is still fresh in the memories of Gujarat residents, another incident of gangrape has been reported from Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi’s home district, causing uproar. 

On late Tuesday night, three rapists gang-raped a 17-year-old girl in Mota Borsaran hamlet near Kosamba in Surat district. The victim was sitting with a friend in the agricultural field when the incident occurred between 10:45 and 11:15 p.m. Three unidentified Hindi-speaking suspects approached the two seated on the farm. The assailants assaulted the youngster and forced him to flee the scene. They (accused) stole the girl’s and boy’s cell phones. 

The accused raped the victim. However, the youth promptly told the locals of the occurrence, and when they arrived at the scene, they discovered the girl was half naked. 

Surat rural police chief Hitesh Joysar, speaking about the gang rape case, stated that between 10:45 and 11:15 p.m. last night, a 17-year-old and 4-month-old daughter were sitting with a friend in a field on the outskirts of Mota Borsaran village in the Kosamba police station area. As soon as it was reported that three people had entered the field and raped the girl, the police team from Kosamba, Surat Rural Dy.SP, LCB, SOG, and Parole rushed to the scene. 

More than 10 teams have been formed to investigate the occurrence. The police brought the youth present with the child to the scene and gathered the necessary proof. In addition, the FSL team is now inspecting the area.

Because the situation was so sensitive, all of the teams have been working since late at night, and the police are conducting an intensive investigation. The victim and his friend were not injured in this incident; however, the normal two-three slaps were delivered. The victim has also undergone a medical examination, and in accordance with the new BNS and BNSS laws, the police are responding to this event in a sensitive and timely manner in order to solve the crime and rigorously punish the three perpetrators.

The Kosamba police have filed a case under sections 70(2), 115(2), 54, and 309(4) of the BNS, which include robbery because the three accused stole the victim’s and his friend’s cell phones. The accused have been charged under sections 352, 351(3) of the BNS, and sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.
