15 rescued following bus-dumper crash in Surat

Surat : The accident with a dumper truck on the Surat-Hazira route late Monday night resulted in a narrow escape for about 15 people on the bus. The bus driver and conductor were trapped in the collision and were rescued by the Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) fire and emergency department teams.

It is estimated that over 15 individuals were on the bus. The bus was packed with security personnel. Following the collision between the dumper truck and the bus, the passengers were freed by cutting the upper portion using gas cutters. The stranded passengers inside the bus were rescued by firefighters.  The collision happened near L&T’s gate. 

The disaster occurred on the same day when six people perished in an accident on the expressway near Anand early Monday morning. The accident occurred between a truck and a luxury coach. In which a truck rammed the luxury bus from behind. The standing bus was severely damaged as a result of the tire bursting. More than eight persons were hurt in the tragedy.

Accidents are steadily growing in the state. The rules are constantly strengthened by the government.
