The vivo X500 series is officially on its way, with vivo confirming that its next flagship smartphone lineup will launch in China on September 21, 2026. The lineup is expected to include the vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, with photography and professional video recording positioned as some of the biggest upgrades.
The announcement was made during vivo’s Creator Festival in China, where the company also revealed several imaging technologies coming to the new flagship phones.
Vivo X500 Series Launch Date
The vivo X500 series will officially launch in China on September 21. The lineup will consist of three models: the standard X500, X500 Pro and top-end X500 Pro Max.
The China launch will reveal the final specifications, pricing and availability details for the new smartphones. vivo has not yet officially confirmed pricing for the series.
Reports suggest that an India launch could follow in October, although the India release date has not yet been officially confirmed by vivo.
Vivo X500 Series Focuses On Camera And Video
Camera technology appears to be the biggest highlight of the vivo X500 series.
For the Pro models, vivo has revealed a new BluePrint LightGuard 900 main camera sensor, with the company claiming up to 17EV of dynamic range. The system is designed to preserve more detail in bright highlights and darker areas, particularly in challenging lighting conditions.
The phones will also continue vivo’s partnership with ZEISS, with optical technologies and coatings designed to reduce unwanted reflections and lens flare.
4K 240fps Video Recording Coming To Vivo X500 Pro Models
The vivo X500 Pro series is also being positioned as a major upgrade for smartphone videographers.
The Pro models are expected to support 4K video recording at up to 240fps, enabling high-frame-rate slow-motion footage. They will also support 4K 120fps HDR recording.
Another major upgrade is support for 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and 4K 120fps 10-bit Log video, alongside integration with the ACES colour workflow.
These features are particularly aimed at creators who want more flexibility while editing and colour-grading footage after recording.
Vivo X500 Pro Max Could Get Advanced Stabilisation
The top-end vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to receive additional camera and stabilisation upgrades.
vivo has highlighted CIPA 7.0 stabilisation and a 3-degree wide-angle gimbal-style stabilisation system for the flagship model. The technology is designed to improve handheld photography and video recording by reducing unwanted movement.
The Pro Max is also expected to feature a 200MP telephoto camera, although some hardware details remain subject to final confirmation at launch.
Vivo X500 Series Could Bring A New AI Photography Assistant
The camera upgrades are not limited to hardware.
The vivo X500 series will introduce a new AI Photography Assistant designed to help users choose suitable shooting options. The system can reportedly recommend compositions, poses and scene-specific adjustments in real time.
vivo is also bringing its VCS 4.0 imaging technology to improve processing, including noise reduction and low-light image quality.
Vivo X500 Pro Max Display And Chipset
The vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to feature a large 2K display using BOE’s Q11 panel technology. Reports point to a display around 6.83 to 6.85 inches, although the final specification should be confirmed during the launch.
The new phones are also expected to be closely linked with MediaTek’s next-generation flagship platform. MediaTek has scheduled a September 15 event for its next flagship Dimensity processors, while reports have pointed to the Dimensity 9600 Pro for the higher-end X500 models.
The exact chipset configuration across all three X500 models should become clearer ahead of or during the September 21 launch.
