Ved, Vansh, Yajat in main draws at State Ranking TT

Vadodara : The IOCL 5th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 here at Sama Sports Complex, commenced on a memorable note as the local paddlers dominated the tables. In the qualifying rounds held on the day-one, Ved Panchal, Vansh Modi and Yajat Raval made it to the main draw of the U-17 and U-15 boys’ competition.
 
The tournament to be held under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association is organized by Table Tennis Association of Baroda.
 
For the first time after 2019, a state ranking will have 640 participants in various categories fighting for the ultimate glory. Earlier, Rajkot edition of the state ranking had hosted 632 players.
 
In the u-17 contest, Yajat faced some strong resistance from Manthan Sisodia of Surat. However, with his strong attacking play, Yajat managed to register a 11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6. In contrast, Yajat just needed three games in U-15 qualifying match against Samarth Dhimmar of Navsari. The Barodian won the match 11-4, 11-8, 11-7.
 
Meanwhile, Ved Panchal had relatively easy matches. Ved conceded a game before taking a firm grip in the U-17 qualifying tie against Anand’s Saiyed Mohammad Suzan 10-12, 11-4, 11-5, 11-3. In the U-15 boys’ match Ved dropped 8 points during his 11-2 11-3 11-3 win against Arjun Valodara of Junagadh. 
 
Also making into the main draw was Vansh Modi. He defeated Aarav Patel (Surat) 11-5 11-6 11-5 and Rehansh Singhvi (Kutch) 11-4 11-4 11-3 in the U-17 and U-15 qualifying matches respectively. 
 
Meanwhile, the U-17 boys seedings have been announced. Ahmedabad’s Himansh Dahiya is top seed followed by Dhyey Jani (Bhavnagar) as second seed and Janmejay Patel (Aravalli) as third. In the U-15 too has an Amdavadi as a top seed. Malav Panchal leads the pack with Sujal Kukadia and Arya Kataria giving him the company in the top-3.
