UFBU calls for nationwide banking strike on Jan 30,31

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) : The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella body of nine bank unions in India, has given a nation-wide strike call for two day beginning January 30 to press for their long pending demands.
Sanjeev K Bandlish, convener of UFBU said that a meeting was held in Mumbai after there was no response from the Indian Bankers’ Association (IBA) on the long pending demands raised through various representations. However, the UFBU has decided to revive the agitation with nation-wide strike on January 30 and January 31.
The UFBU, an umbrella body of 9 Bank unions such as AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW and NOBO, has been demanding five days banking, updation of pension, residual issues, scrapping of NPS, immediate resumption of negotiations on charter of demands for wage revision, adequate recruitment in all cadres etc.
Bandlish said all the bank employees across the country affiliated with UFBU will join in the strike for two days. The banks will remain closed for the general public.
