Vadodara : In a heart wrenching incident, two children seated on the rear side of the school van tumbled out from the moving vehicle and fell on the road. Miraculously, there were no vehicles approaching the van, which left the girls with minor injuries.

With vans and rickshaws carrying school children already under scrutiny for safety and permit issues, an alarming incident has further highlighted the pressing concerns.

A CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on the social media platforms, showing two children falling out of the open rear door of a speeding school van.

The footage, captured near a housing society in Vadodara, reveals the perilous state of the school van, which was packed with children and lacked basic safety measures. As the van sped along, the rear door swung open, and two children tumbled out onto the road. The video shows residents of the society immediately rushing to help the injured girls.

Preliminary reports indicate that the school van was en route to drop off students from the Bagikhana area. The incident has raised serious questions about the safety protocols (or lack thereof) for vehicles transporting school children. Despite the presence of numerous children in the van, there were no apparent safety measures in place to prevent such an accident.

The two children who fell were injured in the incident, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. The community’s quick response in assisting the girls highlights the local concern for the safety of schoolchildren.

This incident comes on the heels of recent developments in Ahmedabad, where the Ahmedabad School Vardhy Association had just concluded a strike. The strike ended after the government agreed to extend the time for drivers to acquire the necessary permits for operating school transport vehicles.
