Surat | Gujarat — Surat is set to take centre stage in the global sustainability conversation as “Sustainability Hill” prepares to debut at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2026, promising a powerful showcase of eco-friendly textile innovation and renewable energy integration.
The ambitious initiative, led by the Textile and Apparel Development Association (TAADA), will span nearly 3,000 square feet and present a complete journey of textile manufacturing—from raw fibre to finished garment—through the lens of sustainability and responsible industrial growth.
Industry leaders say the installation arrives at a crucial time when global buyers are increasingly prioritising ethical sourcing, low-carbon production, and next-generation natural fabrics. According to organisers, Sustainability Hill will act as a live demonstration of how Gujarat’s textile ecosystem is evolving to meet these expectations.
Ajay Bhattacharya, who shared details of the project ahead of the summit, highlighted how the installation will feature innovative yarns and fabrics made from alternative natural fibres. “We are showcasing yarn made by blending cotton with banana fibres, as well as materials derived from bamboo, pineapple, hemp and Himalayan grass. These new-age fabrics are witnessing strong demand in international markets,” he said.
The installation will be divided into two key verticals. The fabric section will demonstrate the complete value chain—from fibre to yarn, fabric and final garments—giving visitors a clear and engaging understanding of sustainable textile manufacturing. The energy section will focus on how renewable power, particularly solar energy, can be seamlessly integrated into textile production processes.
The project has received strong backing from Goldie Solar, underscoring the growing convergence between clean energy and manufacturing. Organisers believe this partnership will highlight the role of solar power in reducing carbon footprints and improving long-term sustainability in the textile sector.
Experts say the initiative signals Gujarat’s intent to lead India’s transition towards environmentally responsible industrial development. By presenting practical, scalable solutions, Sustainability Hill aims to inspire entrepreneurs, manufacturers and policymakers to adopt greener practices across the textile value chain.
“This is more than an exhibition—it is a vision of the future,” Bhattacharya said. “We want visitors to see how sustainability can be integrated into every stage of production and how Gujarat can lead this transformation.”
Mayur Golwala and Omprakash Goyal, who were also present during the announcement at Dome No. 1, emphasised that the project reflects the state’s growing commitment to sustainable manufacturing and innovation.
With global fashion brands pushing for eco-friendly sourcing and governments prioritising clean energy, Sustainability Hill is expected to attract strong attention from investors, industry professionals and international delegates at Vibrant Gujarat 2026.
Organisers believe the initiative will strengthen Gujarat’s reputation as a forward-looking hub for sustainable textiles and renewable energy, setting the stage for long-term growth driven by responsible manufacturing and green innovation.
