Surat’s Filzah Kadri claims Women’s Singles title

Gandhidham (Gujarat) [India]: 2nd Seed Filzah Kadri from Surat won against top seed Frenaz Chipia in the Women’s Singles Final on the concluding day of 2nd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2022 held at Late Shri M.P Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Gandhidham organized by Kachchh District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association.

Filzah made a comeback after trailing two games, the match saw many rallies but eventually, it was Filzah who had the last laugh. Filzah won 4-2 (6-11,11-13,11-7,11-8,11-9,11-8).

Men’s Section saw two new finalists, 8th Seed Jaynil Mehta of Rajkot whose fine run was stopped by 7th Seed Jalay Mehta of Vadodara as he lost 1-4 (11-6,4-11,11-9,11-9,11-4)

2nd Seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar won the first title of the season in the Sub Junior (U-15) Girls as she defeated Top Seed Pratha Pawar of Ahmedabad in the finals 4-0 (12-10,11-9,11-5,14-12)

But Pratha had something to cheer as she defeated Arnee Parmar of Surat in the Junior Girls (U-19) final 4-2 (11-13,11-4,6-11,11-9,11-5,11-5)

Women singles Final: Filzahfatema Kadri (SRT) (2) bt Frenaz Chipia (SRT) (1) bt 4-2 (6-11,11-13,11-7,11-8,11-9,11-8)

3-4 position match: Pratha Pawar (AHD) (5) bt  Kausha Bhairapure (AHD) (3) 3-2 (11-5,13-15,8-11,11-8,11-8)                                      

Jr Girls U-19 Final: Pratha Pawar (AHD) (5) bt. Arnee Parmar (SRT) (2) 4-2 (11-13,11-4,6-11,11-9,11-5,11-5)

3-4 position match: Namna Jayswal (BVN) (1) bt Aafrein Murad (SRT) (6) 3-1  (7-11,11-6,11-7,11-7)
