Surat, Gujarat — In a powerful blend of adventure and activism, 12 young mountaineers from the diamond city of Surat, Gujarat have captured national attention by scaling the 20,050-foot-high Mount Yunam in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul Valley, all while spreading a life-changing message—”No Drugs.”
Among the courageous team were Dhruv Patel and Chirag Patel from Surat, who hoisted the Indian tricolor at the summit and held aloft banners advocating the anti-drug campaign, sending a powerful message to youth across the nation.
“This wasn’t just about reaching the top,” said Dhruv Patel. “We wanted to show that discipline, fitness, and willpower can lead us to greatness—without drugs. That’s the message we carried all the way to the summit.”
Mount Yunam, part of the majestic Pir Panjal Range of the Lesser Himalayas, offers a treacherous route filled with obstacles—glacial winds, low oxygen levels, and punishing terrain. The expedition began on May 21, and the team reached the summit on May 28, overcoming severe cold, thin air, and dangerous trails.
The campaign was organized by Invincible NGO, which sponsored the entire expedition under its nationwide “No Drugs” movement. The initiative uses outdoor adventures and leadership training to steer youth away from addiction and toward positive pursuits.
Namra Bhavsar, Samarth Vacchani, Devansh Rawal, Tejas Shah, Raju Basnet, Harsh Bharad, Rudrarajsinh Revar, Mayur Bajania, Shyam Nakshi also played vital roles in this mission. Their determination and unity carried the team across the harsh conditions of the Lahaul Valley.
“Our mission was twofold: conquer Mount Yunam and conquer the idea that drugs define youth culture,” said Chirag Patel. “When we reached the top, it wasn’t just a personal victory—it was a national message.”
Mount Yunam is considered one of India’s highest non-technical trekking peaks, but it still demands high endurance, resilience, and teamwork. For the Surat-based participants, it was also about putting their city on the map for positive youth movements.
“This campaign is a reminder that today’s youth can be the solution, not the problem,” said an Invincible NGO spokesperson. “By combining adventure and awareness, we create change that lasts.”
