SURAT, GUJARAT : A video circulating widely on social media shows a dramatic car accident that occurred in Surat on the night of May 13th. The incident involved a brand new Mercedes-Benz car driven by a woman in the Piplod area.
The harrowing footage captures the moment the speeding Mercedes loses control, swerves across the road, and collides with the dividers on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route. The impact sends the car careening into the iron railings before it comes to a halt.

Thankfully, the airbags within the Mercedes deployed upon impact, likely saving the driver, identified as Kalpana, a resident of Piplod, from serious injury. The video shows two bystanders rushing to the car and assisting Kalpana out of the vehicle. According to reports, Kalpana then made a call, presumably to emergency services. However, she fled the scene before the police arrived.
The incident occurred during a period of heavy dust storms and rain that lashed Surat city on Monday evening. The sudden downpour coupled with strong winds caused limited visibility, making driving conditions treacherous. The video serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of speeding, especially during adverse weather conditions.
The Surat traffic police have launched an investigation based on the car’s registration details, which link the vehicle to a Kalpanaben residing in Gaurav Path. Authorities are working to locate Kalpana and determine the cause of the accident.
