Surat : The Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, managed by the Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA) will become the epicenter of the cricketing world as the ICC and the BCCI have given the green signal to host Legends League Cricket 2023 from November 29 to December 9.

Ravi Shastri, the former coach of the Indian Cricket team and the main organiser of the Legends League, has given his blessing to the competition, which promises to be a star-studded cricketing spectacle.

The President of the Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA), Hemantbhai Contractor, has announced that the city would welcome cricket legends from six different countries. The Legends League Cricket will include legendary cricketers from several nations, including India, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, and South Africa.

All of the matches will be broadcast live on Star TV, Hotstar, and YouTube, so cricket fans all around the globe will be able to catch every exciting minute of the competition.

Contractor said that discussions for this illustrious competition had been going on over the last two months, and that the event’s post-World Cup scheduling was a calculated move. It is expected that cricket mania would still be at a fever pitch, bringing a large crowd to Surat. Up to 20,000 people have been accommodated in advance of the anticipated surge of cricket enthusiasts.

Similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Legends League T20 event would include a bidding structure for its players. There will be six teams involved in the auction for the services of renowned cricket players. The auction is likely to include both established players like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir and up-and-coming ones like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh.

Due to the tournament’s proximity to the wedding season, reservations have already begun at a number of Surat’s five-star hotels totaling over 220 rooms. This calculated action is designed to meet the lodging requirements of the Legends League Cricket teams, players, and officials.

The event will go ahead without a hitch thanks to the tireless efforts of the SDCA’s elected officials. In order to check and supervise the preparations, three teams in charge of logistics, facilities, and organisation have been to Surat. Transportation for foreign players has been arranged from New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and the United Arab Emirates to the city of Surat. Charter flights out of Mumbai will be provided if necessary to accommodate the overseas athletes.
