Surat : Surat, the renowned city of diamonds and textiles, has achieved a remarkable feat by entering the Guinness Book of World Records. On June 21, to commemorate International Yoga Day, approximately 150,000 citizens gathered at a single location to participate in a yoga session, setting a new record. The official representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records were present to make the announcement and presented the record certificate to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

During the State Level Yoga program organized in Surat, participants from across the city joined in the yoga practice, spanning a distance of 12.5 kilometers. The designated yoga area extended from Y Junction to SVNIT Circle, Y Junction to Ratnabhoomi Party Plot, and Y Junction to Surat Airport Gate. Notably, within a stretch of just 1 kilometer, approximately 10,000 individuals actively engaged in yoga. The enthusiasm and response from the residents of Surat were overwhelming, with more than 100,000 people registering for the event within a single day through the online registration link.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his pride in India’s rich heritage of yoga, which promotes the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family). He credited the success of the event to India’s honorable Prime Minister, stating that the teachings of our sages and yoga practitioners have provided the world with a shining example of leading a healthy and stress-free life through yoga practice.

State BJP President and Member of Parliament, CR Paatil, also addressed the participants, acknowledging the significant achievement of gathering 150,000 individuals simultaneously for a collective yoga practice. He urged everyone present to embrace yoga as a part of their daily lives, emphasizing its popularity as a choice for maintaining good health.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on the three-day visit to the United States, extended his greetings to the nation virtually on the occasion of Yoga Day. His message resonated with the spirit of unity and well-being that yoga promotes.

Surat has once again made its mark on the global stage, demonstrating the city’s commitment to healthy living and promoting the ancient practice of yoga. The record-breaking event serves as an inspiration to individuals worldwide, encouraging them to embrace yoga as a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being.
