Surat : Rs 500 Cr business expected at SGCCI WeaveKnitt exhibition

Through the WeaveKnit exhibition 2025, weavers, knitters, technical textile entrepreneurs and fabric manufacturers of Surat and south Gujarat will get an opportunity to establish direct deals and contacts with the buyers from across the country.

Surat, Gujarat — The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has organised the 4th edition of the three-day long ‘WeaveKnitt Exhibition 2025’ with the objective to provide a new direction and momentum to the weaving, knitting, narrow fabrics and technical textiles industries in the textile city of Surat and south Gujarat. 

Through the WeaveKnit exhibition 2025, weavers, knitters, technical textile entrepreneurs and fabric manufacturers of Surat and south Gujarat will get an opportunity to establish direct deals and contacts with the buyers from across the country. The exhibition, which is being held from July 18 to July 20, at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) at Sarsana, Surat, is a B2B exhibition where genuine buyers of fabrics from major textile markets of India like Indore, Cuttack, Jaipur, Pune, Banaras, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madras, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi will visit during the three days of exhibition.

SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said, “The WeaveKnitt Exhibition will go a long way in establishing Surat and south Gujarat as the fabric hub of India. The three-day long exhibition will have a range of state-of-the-art fabrics manufactured in Surat. Out of the total 115 exhibitors, about 100 are from Surat”

At the WeaveKnitt exhibition, hospital curtains (water repellent, anti-microbial and fire retardant) will be exhibited. This product is made in very small quantities and by a few manufacturers in Surat. Apart from this, shower curtains, draperies black-out and white-out fabric, micro fiber polyester fabric, micro fiber bedsheets, comforter fabric, micro fiber duvet fabric, micro fiber duvets and duvet covers, pillow covers, micro fiber bedspreads, pleated micro fiber bedspreads, digitally printed black-out fabric and ultrasonic black-out fabric will be exhibited. All these products are manufactured by industrialists in Surat who have integrated or composite units i.e. weaving, knitting and stitching facilities.

In addition, 100 percent poly fabric with viscose felt which is used for men’s and women’s wear and digital print will also be exhibited. In addition, flexo linen mixed with poly flex and poly linen look fabric Crystal Linen will also be exhibited.

SGCCI vice president Ashok Jirawala said that in last year’s WeaveKnitt exhibition, exhibitors got business worth more than Rs 400 crore in just six months. However, this year, as the exhibition is being held in a larger area compared to last year, it is expected that exhibitors will get business worth more than Rs 500 crore. He further said that large yarn brokers, who prove to be an important link between textile manufacturers and garment traders, are also going to be present in this exhibition, hence this exhibition will provide an important platform to these brokers to provide new varieties and qualities.

MSME industrialists participating in the WeaveKnitt exhibition will also get the benefit of subsidy from the Gujarat Government. Apart from this, this exhibition will create huge industry and business opportunities for industrialists. Moreover, textile processors and apparel manufacturers, fashion designers and fabric buying houses, business leaders and entrepreneurs, decision makers from government, product development executives, CEOs, senior executives from industry, operation / technical – purchase managers, investors and venture capital, retailer industry associations, NGOs and consultants will get a lot of useful information from this exhibition.
