Surat | Gujarat —The Surat police have launched a rigorous operation to find the whereabouts of the birth mother who abandoned a newborn baby girl at the old Kawas cricket ground located in Icchapore area of the diamond city of Surat on late night of November 28.

The police have announced a reward of Rs 11,000 to the person who would share information on the abandoned parent of the newborn girl child.

Sources said that hearing the cries of the newborn, some people rushed only to find the abandoned child wrapped in a piece of white cloth.

The police were immediately informed and they arrived at the spot and took possession of the newborn girl child and immediately rushed her to the New Civil Hospital (NCH), where she is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Aniruddhsinh Gohil, police inspector of Icchapore police station said that the newborn child is undergoing treatment in the ICU at NCH. An investigation has been launched to find the whereabouts of the abandoning parent of the baby girl. An intensive investigation of CCTV footage from different areas around Kawas cricket ground is being done and the police are also in touch with ASHA workers.

“We are also examining nearby hospitals in the Kawas and Ichhapore areas to find out whether any deliveries took place a day or two after the incident,” said Gohil.

A reward of 11,000 for those who find the abandoning parent

The Ichchapore police have started legal action to find the ruthless parents who committed this inhuman act. It has been officially announced by the Ichchapore police that a cash reward of 11,000 will be given to anyone who helps in finding the parents of this newborn baby or provides accurate information about them.

The police are also intensifying their investigation in other directions

This reward announced by the police will motivate the society to cooperate in this investigation. The police have started examining CCTV footage installed in the surrounding areas, details of women who have recently given birth in hospitals and in-depth questioning of local people. The police hope that the parents of this newborn girl will be found soon and they will be punished legally for their actions.
