Surat :  In a show of collective dissent against what they perceive as oppressive policies of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the employees of the All India Passport Staff Association’s (AIPSA) Surat Unit orchestrated a lunch-time demonstration on Friday.

Donning black ribbons as a symbol of protest, these employees aired their grievances against the non-acceptance of their long-standing demands.

The Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Surat employees took a pause during their lunch hours to engage in a silent yet impactful demonstration. Adorned with black ribbons and clutching placards, the employees conveyed their dissatisfaction with the MEA’s stance on their pending demands.

AIPSA, a pivotal organization representing passport employees across India, has been at the forefront of presenting the collective concerns and charter of demands to the Ministry. This consolidated list encompasses various critical points, each reflecting the aspirations and concerns of the employees.

The demands voiced by the passionate employees include the rollback of orders to operate offices on Saturdays, the immediate finalization of the transfer policy, expedited release of transfers for completion of tenure and retirement cases, swifter facilitation of transfer upon request, thorough cadre review and re-structuring, promotions for employees with relaxation and LDCE (as per R.R) from OA/MTS to APO positions, avenues for advancement for stenographers and JTO/STO roles, integration of the JPA cadre into the SPA cadre, cessation of direct recruitment for assistant superintendents, direct entry at SPA grade, pay parity for assistant superintendents, superintendents, and senior superintendents, revision of recruitment rules with an increment in the promotion quota to PO grade from Cadre DPOs, and betterment of working conditions in PSKs and POPSKs.
