Surat : In a historic moment, a Surti has made his mark in the Oscar Award category. The short film “Anuja”, nominated in its category, features editing by Krushan Timir Naik, an accomplished professional hailing from Surat, Gujarat.

In addition to this, Krushan Naik took charge of the entire coordination of the film while also offering guidance to the director. Krushan Naik, one of the four producers of the film, is prominently featured in both the film’s poster and title. Krushan Naik has taken on the dual responsibilities of editing and producing this film.

Krushan Naik from Surat Oscar nomination

Timir Naik, Krushan’s father, hailing from a family rooted in photography business known as ‘Tasveer Kendra’ in Pani Ni Bheet area in the walled city of Surat, shared that Krushan was born and received his education in Surat, completing his B.COM and MA.

Following his college years, he pursued animation studies in Surat. He subsequently completed a course in film direction and editing at LMU University in Los Angeles, America. As a result of the pandemic, he extended his studies to three and a half years instead of the usual three, focusing on editing during his final year.

The film “Anuja,” which made its way to the Oscars, is the inaugural film to achieve victories at various film festivals. A staggering 8,000 films competed in the short film category at the Oscars. In this, “Anuja” has made it to the top 150, then advanced to the top 15, and now stands among the top 5 films. The release date for the Anuja film will be revealed on February 2.

Timir Naik indicates that Krushan, who created the short film “Resurgence” during his studies in Los Angeles, garnered an award that attracted the attention of writer and director Adam J. Graves, leading to Krushan’s inclusion in the team prior to the film’s commencement. Guneet Monga Kapoor became involved with this project following Krushan’s participation. Krushan Nayak is employed at 20th Century Studios Company located in Los Angeles, America.

My father and Krushan’s grandfather Kantilal Naik have also produced documentary films: Darshana Jardosh….

Krushan Naik, recognized for his Oscar-nominated film, is the son of Timir Naik, who is the brother of Darshanaben Jardosh, a former Union Minister and Surat MP. Darshana Jardosh states that 34-year-old Krushan has received this legacy from her father and his grandfather, Kantilal Naik. My father Kantilal Naik created a documentary film focusing on the 1959 Surat Tapi flood and the Kadana Dam. In addition to this, he produced documentary films for the state’s information department. Krushan’s team’s film being chosen among the top five categories for the Oscar Award is a significant achievement for our family, reflecting our dedication and hard work in the industry. Krushan Naik is presently residing in Los Angeles. He possesses a background in creating a couple of short films.

The film “Anuja” explores the challenges faced by two sisters from Delhi.

The film “Anuja” shares notable similarities with the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. While Slumdog Millionaire focused on teenagers from the slums of Mumbai, “Anuja” tells the story of two sisters, one a minor and the other an adult, residing in a slum in Delhi.

Krushan Naik shared his thoughts on the film through social media, stating, “Anuja is an incredibly heartwarming film, featuring outstanding performances by the two lead actresses, Sajda Pathan and Ananya Shanbaug.”

Thrilled to receive this nomination at the 97th Oscars! It is an honor to present Anuja’s story, showcasing the efforts of Salaam Balak Trust, Delhi. Anuja tells a tale of strength, unity, and optimism – a melody celebrating the enduring connection between two sisters who aspire to rise above their challenges. Curry is making headlines. In the end, it serves as a tribute to the wonderful children who endure challenging circumstances daily across the globe. In the midst of extraordinary challenges, they remind us that there are still reasons to find joy. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our team, partners, and audience for their unwavering belief in Anuja and for amplifying her message globally.

This nomination highlights the power of a compelling narrative to break through barriers, sparking important discussions on education, child labor rights, and the aspirations of children around the globe. Anuja is a creation of Adam J. Graves, who has both written and directed it. The film boasts production by Mindy Kaling, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Suchitra Mattai, and Krushan Naik. Krushan Naik took on the editing of the film as well.
