Surat : In a historic moment, a Surti has made his mark in the Oscar Award category. The short film “Anuja”, nominated in its category, features editing by Krushan Timir Naik, an accomplished professional hailing from Surat, Gujarat.
In addition to this, Krushan Naik took charge of the entire coordination of the film while also offering guidance to the director. Timir Naik, Krushan’s father, hailing from a family rooted in photography business known as ‘Tasveer Kendra’ in Pani Ni Bheet area in the walled city of Surat, shared that Krushan was born and received his education in Surat, completing his B.COM and MA.
Following his college years, he pursued animation studies in Surat. He subsequently completed a course in film direction and editing at LMU University in Los Angeles, America. As a result of the pandemic, he extended his studies to three and a half years instead of the usual three, focusing on editing during his final year.
The film “Anuja,” which made its way to the Oscars, is the inaugural film to achieve victories at various film festivals. A staggering 8,000 films competed in the short film category at the Oscars. In this, “Anuja” has made it to the top 150, then advanced to the top 15, and now stands among the top 5 films. The release date for the Anuja film will be revealed on February 2.
Timir Naik indicates that Krushan, who created the short film “Resurgence” during his studies in Los Angeles, garnered an award that attracted the attention of writer and director Adam J. Graves, leading to Krushan’s inclusion in the team prior to the film’s commencement. Guneet Monga Kapoor became involved with this project following Krushan’s participation.
