Surat : Iron Structure of Surat Metro project Falls on Auto, Driver Escapes

Surat : A startling incident unfolded at the Surat Metro Rail construction site situated along the Ring Road, as a huge iron structure detached from a crane and crashed onto a passing auto. Remarkably, the auto driver emerged unscathed, but his vehicle suffered considerable damage. Adding to the intrigue, the crane operator absconded from the scene following the incident.

Raju Sahu, a rickshaw driver and resident of Pandesara, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that he had just completed delivering a consignment of fabrics to the textile market on Ring Road. Unusually, he departed from the market without ferrying any passengers in his auto, as he was in a hurry to head back.

Moments later, as Sahu was driving a few meters away from the market, an enormous iron structure unexpectedly plummeted onto his auto. Reacting swiftly, he managed to leap out of his vehicle, escaping with minor injuries.

The incident has instilled shock and concern among both commuters and pedestrians traversing the Surat Metro route, where construction activity has been underway for approximately one and a half years. The fear and apprehension have gripped residents in Surat, causing them to express trepidation while navigating areas proximate to the Surat Metro Rail project site.

This alarming occurrence has raised questions about safety protocols and measures implemented at construction sites, prompting concerns about the potential risks posed to individuals commuting nearby.
