Surat | Gujarat — Surat has earned national recognition once again as Dr. Pankaj Gandhi has been elected to the CMA Syllabus 2026 Review Advisory Group of the prestigious The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. The appointment marks a major milestone for the city’s academic and professional community, reinforcing its growing influence in shaping India’s professional education standards.
Dr. Gandhi, known for his rare blend of engineering, science, management and law, has been entrusted with contributing to the development of the updated CMA curriculum for 2026. He will play a key role in strengthening the final-level elective paper on Corporate and Economic Laws, ensuring it reflects modern legal and regulatory developments.
“This responsibility is both an honour and a commitment to contribute to the future of professional education in India,” Dr. Gandhi said. “The updated curriculum must align with evolving corporate laws and global economic realities.”
With more than 38 degrees and diplomas, Dr. Gandhi’s academic journey spans some of India’s top institutions, including an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, urban planning studies at CEPT University, M.Tech from BITS Pilani, and doctoral research from SVNIT Surat. He also serves on a technical evaluation panel appointed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India for IPO-bound companies.
An online interactive session held on May 11 brought together the advisory group chairman and the Directorate of Studies team to discuss key technical and legal aspects of the upcoming syllabus revision.
Academic leaders in Surat hailed the achievement as a moment of pride. “His appointment shows how talent from Surat is contributing to national policy and professional education,” said a senior academic colleague.
