Surat : In a shocking incident that has rattled the city of Surat, Salim Bagadiya, the General Secretary of the BJP Minority Morcha, lost his life in a violent altercation with a suspended Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), Ronak Hirani.

The Bhestan Police have since booked Hirani for the murder of 50-year-old Bagadiya, a scrap dealer by profession, whose family was preparing for the joyous occasion of his son’s wedding in just 15 days.

The tragedy unfolded when Bagadiya approached Hirani over a derogatory social media post targeting a female relative of his. The request to remove the offensive content quickly escalated into a heated exchange, culminating in Hirani delivering a fatal punch to Bagadiya’s stomach. The blow rendered Bagadiya unconscious, and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival, with the preliminary cause of death identified as severe injuries to his kidney and liver.

This incident has cast a spotlight on Hirani’s troubled past. About seven months prior, he was arrested for illegally transporting liquor while stationed at the Pandesara police station, leading to his suspension from service. The community is in uproar over the behavior of a former law enforcement officer, now accused of taking a life over a personal dispute.

Salimbhai, as he was affectionately known, was a respected figure in the local community, both for his business acumen and his political involvement. His untimely death has left a void in the hearts of many, highlighting the dire consequences of unchecked aggression and the misuse of social media.

The case against Hirani is being rigorously pursued, with the police taking a stern stance against violence and misconduct, especially by those who once swore to protect and serve. The incident has ignited a broader conversation on the responsibilities of law enforcement officials, both in and out of uniform, and the need for accountability in their actions.
