Sunrisers Hyderabad All-rounder Abhishek Sharma Questioned by Surat Police in Model’s Suicide Case

Surat : Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Abhishek Sharma arrived in Surat on Tuesday for questioning by the police in connection with the death of model Tanya Singh, who was found dead in her apartment on February 19th. The 23-year-old all-rounder was questioned for four hours by officers at the Vesu police station.

According to the police, Sharma and Singh were friends, and phone records showed they had been in contact prior to her death. Investigators revealed that an unanswered message was sent by the model to Sharma on WhatsApp shortly before her passing. A  police officer stated, “Preliminary findings indicate a friendship between Tanya Singh and Abhishek Sharma. We are still investigating the details of their relationship.”

Since news of Sharma’s connection to the case emerged, public interest in the young cricketer has surged. During his questioning, Sharma faced inquiries about the nature and duration of his friendship with Singh, and how they came to know each other. He reportedly denied any contact with her in the immediate period leading up to her death.

Who is Abhishek Sharma?

Abhishek Sharma, a rising star in Indian cricket, is known for his impressive performance at the youth level. He captained India’s U-19 team to victory in the 2017 Asia Cup and played a key role in their U-19 World Cup triumph under Prithvi Shaw’s leadership the same year.

Sharma’s cricketing journey began with the Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) in the 2018 IPL. He later joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, where he currently plays. His talent and potential were recognized in the 2022 mega auction, where Sunrisers Hyderabad secured him for a whopping Rs 6.5 crore.

The investigation into Tanya Singh’s death continues, and police are yet to determine the exact cause. Abhishek Sharma’s questioning is part of their efforts to gather all relevant information and establish the facts surrounding the case.
