South Gujarat Beach Master Plan Demanded Amid Suvali Festival Success

Surat | Gujarat — Following the vibrant success of the ongoing Suvali Beach Festival, the Surat Growth Hub Forum has officially submitted a formal request to the Gujarat Tourism Ministry, demanding a comprehensive South Gujarat Beach Development Master Plan.

The forum sent a reminder email to the Minister of Tourism, emphasizing that while festivals are a positive step, a long-term structural roadmap is essential for the sustainable growth of the coastline spanning Surat, Navsari, and Valsad. 

Call for Strategic Integration

The representation highlights the need to align coastal tourism with Niti Aayog’s broader “Surat Growth Hub” vision.  By integrating these two initiatives, the forum believes the region can unlock massive economic potential.

“The Suvali Beach Festival is a commendable initiative that shows the State Government’s commitment to coastal tourism,” the forum stated in its letter. “However, for lasting impact, we request a master plan that covers infrastructure, environmental protection, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models.” 

Key Demands for the Region

The Surat Growth Hub Forum outlined five critical pillars for the proposed master plan: 

Infrastructure: Enhanced facilities for tourists and improved connectivity. 

Environmental Protection: Strict adherence to Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms. 

Local Economy: Development models that include the local community and private investors. 

Timeline: A clear implementation schedule for all projects. 

Stakeholder Consultation: A request for an immediate meeting with regional stakeholders to discuss the roadmap. 

Impact on Employment and Economy

The forum stressed that the South Gujarat coastline is not merely a tourist destination but a vital engine for regional development and job creation. The letter was also copied to Sandip Desai, MLA of Surat, urging his intervention to ensure the development of these beaches reaches its full potential. 

“A long-term, integrated plan under the guidance of the state government is necessary to transform this coast into an economic powerhouse,” the letter concluded. As the Suvali festival continues to draw crowds, the pressure now shifts to the ministry to see if a permanent blueprint for the “Suryapur” coastline will finally be unveiled.
