Sola Civil Hospital doctor refuses to treat sick child; video goes viral

Ahmedabad | Gujarat — A resident female doctor working in the pediatric department of the Sola Civil hospital in Ahmedabad has landed in trouble after a video went viral where she refuses to treat a girl child who was suffering from severe fever and difficulty in breathing. 

The female doctor in question is clearly seen in the video refusing to treat the girl patient. Not only this, the female doctor is also clearly seen in the video manhandling the girl’s uncle who was recording her video.  The incident took place when a man named Ajay Chavda came to Sola Civil on Sunday for the treatment of his sick niece. It is worth mentioning  Sola Civil Superintendent Devang Shah was not available for comments. 

No doctor was present in the hospital

Ajay Chavda said, “My niece had a slight fever for the last two days, but it increased on Sunday morning. She was having difficulty breathing due to coughing and the fever was also very high. So we immediately brought her to Sola Civil.” My brother works as an electrician here in Sola Civil, so we came here. When we came to the pediatric department, the doctor was not present. We came to the hospital around 9 am. But no doctor was present.

You don’t know how to place thermometer

After waiting for a while, the female resident doctor came. When she saw that the thermometer was attached to the armpit above the T-shirt. The doctor came and immediately told my brother that it shouldn’t be like this, it should be placed inside the T-shirt. Then my brother said, I’m not from the nursing staff. Someone from your staff has placed it. Then the doctor said, I told you to put it inside the T-shirt. My brother replied, I can’t do this. Because I’m not from the staff. You put it in. Then the doctor said loudly, I told you 3-4 times, don’t you know? If it’s your daughter, don’t you know how to put it in? she started talking loudly to us.

I will not do treatment, you go wherever you want to go

Ajay further said that I asked the doctor’s name, but no one was answering. I told the doctor to speak slowly. So she started saying that my voice is like that. Then I started recording the video, then he hit my phone. She tried to man-handle us. After this, the doctor clearly said that you have misbehaved with me, so I will not do treatment. You go wherever you want to go. And he also said that if you want to go to the Chief Minister, then go, I will not do treatment. After that I contacted the CMO. After a while, the CMO told us that you should delete the video. That doctor will do the treatment. After that, we were made to sit in the waiting area and my niece was taken inside for treatment.
