Surat, Gujarat – In a stirring tribute to national pride and unity, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized a grand national flag installation ceremony in the diamond city of Surat on Thursday at Samhati, Sarsana. A massive 100-foot national flag was hoisted on the chamber premises, symbolizing the country’s resilience, courage, and unwavering patriotism in the face of adversity.

The national flag was unveiled by Surat Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, who lauded the chamber’s initiative. “This monumental flag is not just a symbol of India—it’s a constant reminder of our national pride and the sacrifices made by our soldiers. The sight of it fluttering every day will instill a deep sense of patriotism among all citizens,” he said.

SGCCI President Vijay Mewawala delivered an emotional address during the ceremony, drawing attention to the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahal village, where innocent civilians, including women, were targeted. “Terrorists not only killed the innocent but also tried to humiliate our cultural symbols by removing the sindoor from the heads of our daughters. India is a peace-loving country, but we will not tolerate terrorism,” said Mewawala.

He further emphasized India’s strong response to terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “Through Operation Sindoor, our Indian Army destroyed more than 100 terrorist bases in Pakistan via air strikes. This show of strength was not just military might—it was a reflection of our unity, resolve, and undying love for the nation.”

The installation of the flag, he said, was more than ceremonial. “This flag is a beacon of our collective resolve and a tribute to the spirit of unity that defines us as a nation,” Mewawala added.

The ceremony was conducted by Chamber President-elect Nikhil Madrasi, while Honorary Minister Nirav Mandlewala offered a vote of thanks. The event saw the presence of former President Ramesh Vaghasia, Honorary Treasurer Mrinal Shukal, past chamber presidents, SGCCI members, entrepreneurs, traders, and staff members, all of whom participated with great enthusiasm.

The 100-foot flag is now a permanent fixture at the SGCCI premises and is expected to become a new symbol of civic pride in Surat, reminding every visitor and citizen of the unity and sacrifices that hold the fabric of the nation together.
