SGCCI and GPCB to host ‘Environment Conclave’ in Surat on April 15

The Environment Conclave will be attended by professionals from key government ministries, institutes, and organizations, as well as businesses and entrepreneurs from around the south Gujarat region

Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) will co-host a ‘Environment Conclave’ at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC), Sarsana on April 15.

The Environment Conclave will be attended by professionals from key government ministries, institutes, and organizations, as well as businesses and entrepreneurs from around the south Gujarat region. The conclave will primarily focus on the measures required to protect the environment from industrial pollution and the collaborative initiatives that industry must take to rescue the ecosystem.

“The industries and the State Government are working together on the environment and pollution front,” said Ramesh Vaghasia, vice-president of SGCCI. “The environment conclave will go a long way towards raising awareness among industries in South Gujarat about the steps that must be taken to reduce environmental impact and pollution, as well as contribute significantly to the climate change initiative.”

Mulubhai Behra, Gujarat’s minister for forest, environment, and climate change, will be the keynote speaker at the Environment conference. Sanjeev Kumar, principal secretary of the forest and environment department, Surat district collector Ayush Oak, and Santosh Mundra, executive director of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), will all be present at the summit.

“We have invited expert speakers including member secretary of GPCB DM Thakar, regional director of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Prasun Gargava, Professor Mukesh Khare from ITI New Delhi, Kartikey Sarabhai, founder and director of Environment Education Centre and former technical expert of the National Green Tribunal Ajay Deshpande,” said Kunhal Shah, chairman of SGCCI’s environment, pollution control, and water treatment committee.”

“At the environment conclave, the speakers will delve into climate change and the environmental impact of industrial pollution,” Shah added. “At the conclave, the issues and suggestions of South Gujarat’s industry owners will be heard and resolved.”
